Wtrans series from JUMO contains a new transmitter with M12
connection for adaptation to existing Pt 1000 resistance thermometers.
Additional receiver designs are also available, which have two rather
than four analog inputs, but also have two relays for a variety of
monitoring tasks and are suitable for supply voltage of either 230V or
24V. The transmitters are located in a probe handle and are protected by
a watertight housing. The radio frequencies used are largely
non-sensitive to external disruptive influences and permit transfer even
in a rough industrial environment. The probe with a fixed protective
tube is designed as an insertion measurement probe and is available with
an installation length of 50 to 1000 mm. A platinum chip resistor is

deployed overseas recently, it did so with a Sierra Innova-Sonic® Model
206 In-Line Ultrasonic Flow Meter installed as a critical element of its
refueling system. In these days of soaring fuel costs, getting what you
pay for is crucial. Since the RSN deploys frequently to all parts of the
world, the navy wanted to be assured that the quantity of the expensive
fuel they are being billed for is in fact what is piped aboard. Before
choosing the Sierra Model 206 In-Line Ultrasonic, an exhaustive search
was undertaken to identify the best meter to “double check” the fuel
amounts received. Impressed with their high accuracy, the RSN first
looked at coriolis meters but found the 2-3” sizes required
prohibitively expensive. They then looked at positive displacement
meters and, while more economical, the navy was concerned about
potential fouling problems plugging up the sensor ports since marine
bunkering fuel can sometimes be very dirty. Electromagnetic flow meters
can get around this problem, but they do not work on fuel oil because it

flowmeter, to handle the highly aggressive and corrosive fluids found in
the chemical industry. The past decade has seen Coriolis flowmeter
technology become the accepted standard in many chemical industries.
However, one area where the technology was challenged was the
measurement of highly aggressive and corrosive fluids. This was due to
the commercial availability of a suitable measuring tube material to
handle these chemicals. Generally, the wall thickness of Coriolis
measuring tubes are significantly less than the associated process
piping, which will tolerate a higher rate of corrosion before failing.
This is an area where wetted material selection for a Coriolis meter is
critical. Tantalum has been used by some Coriolis manufacturers in the

conductiometric sensors for monitoring carbon dioxide (CO2) under a SBIR
Phase I grant from NOAA. The focus of the funded work is the development
of small, low-power sensors to be included in the breathing loop of
closed circuit rebreathers that can monitor for a breakthrough of the
CO2 scrubbing system. The inclusion of a CO2 sensor in closed circuit
rebreathers will make the dive equipment safer and allow for more
widespread use. The initial SBIR effort is the development of sensors
and electronics and will be followed-up by the integration of the
sensors into rebreathers for testing of prototype units. Due to
significant cost advantages, it is anticipated that the devices will
expand CO2 sensing for applications served by currently available
technology, primarily infrared (IR) sensors, and open up new sensing
opportunities. A particular area that these novel sensors are expected
to impact is demand control ventilation (DCV). These new solid-state
sensors are expected to demonstrate performance comparable to IR sensors

of their new sensor for urea-air dosing utilizing (AUS32) Aqueous Urea
Solution 32.5% or AdBlue™ in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)
after-treatment systems with diesel engines. This (AUS32) solution is
high purity urea in de-mineralized water that is clear, non-toxic, and
safe to handle. Kavlico’s urea-dosing sensor generates an output used to
provide feedback to the SCR system to assist in optimizing the reduction
of NOx emissions by monitoring the SCR system and helping to determine
the appropriate amount of AdBlue reducing agent to be delivered to the
catalytic converter module. AdBlue is carried on-board SCR-equipped
trucks and buses in specially designed tanks and it is dosed into the
SCR system at a rate equivalent to 3-5% of diesel consumption. The low
dosing rate ensures long refill periods and minimizes the tank’s impact
