bks-Sensor - Great performance on the
edge |
| |
microsonic:
Edge sensors are required for web control to detect the edge of the web
material and maintain it on the correct lateral position. With materials
such as highly transparent foils, light-sensitive materials, materials
with greatly varying transparency and paper subject to high paper dust
loads, ultrasonic solutions offer considerable advantages over the
optical measuring principle. The web material covers the receiver more
or less consistently. Depending on the coverage degree, the electronics
issue an analogue signal of 4-20 mA. The bks edge sensor delivers the
analogue signal with a resolution of 0.025 mm and has an operating range
of 6 mm. The manufacturer specifies an accuracy of ± 0.1 mm for constant
ambient conditions. The sensor’s very compact design with a fork width
of only 30 mm and a depth of 33 mm facilitates its application in
control systems and machines with small mechanical dimensions. ... |

Printing Control - ultrasonic lcs-Sensor |
| |
microsonic
GmbH: The ultrasonic sensors of the lcs range by microsonic have
been employed in machines and systems for many years. microsonic has now
completely re-engineered the lcs sensors and added some interesting new
features. The sensors now feature a smaller size and a 5-pole M12 plug
connection. In addition to the known variants with 2 pnp switched
outputs and one analogue output, a version with 3 pnp switched outputs
is now available. To ease their commissioning and maintenance in the
field, microsonic developed a particularly smart solution: In connection
with the LCA-2, a handy programming adapter with 4 buttons and a 3-digit
digital display, the detect points of all 3 switched outputs as well as
the filter settings can be adjusted via a menu prompt. After new sensor
settings have been made, they can be transferred to any number of lcs
sensors with the LinkCopy function integrated in the LCA-2. In service
cases, the current measured values of the Ics sensors can also be
directly indicated ... |

JUMO BlackLine pH/redox electrodes – now
even better |
| |
Customers
can now measure the pH value and redox potential (ORP) using the
cost-effective sensors in the JUMO BlackLine series of electrodes from
JUMO GmbH & Co. KG, Fulda, Germany. These electrodes – tried and
tested for many years – have recently been made even better. So far,
only high-quality process electrodes have been manufactured using the
well-proven JUMO solid electrolyte and annular-gap diaphragm. The
resulting benefits are a longer electrode life and, at the same time, a
reduced danger of electrolyte poisoning due to the ingress of foreign
matter and electrode poisons. The open annular-gap diaphragm provides
the link between the medium and reference system. A rugged reference
system in cartridge style has replaced the wire conduction system used
up to now. The application of a cartridge-style reference system ensures
that the electrolyte supplies a stable reference signal, with the result
that stable measurements are transmitted for a longer period during the
entire measurement process. These sensors are therefore ideally suited
to the use in aquariums (also seawater aquariums), in greenhouse
technology, and for determining the pH and/or redox potential in surface
water (rainwater, pond water). ... |

New pig detector SONOPIPE 12 from SONOTEC |
| |
SONOTEC
Ultraschallsensorik Halle GmbH: The new ultrasonic pig detector
SONOPIPE 12 was developed for pig detection in pipelines. It controls
the section of cleaning- and testing pigs in pipes for oil, liquid gases
and water. The advantage of this easy and reliable method is the outside
coupling of the sensors around the pipes. They are able to detect
whether there is a pig or only the product liquid right behind the wall.
Environmental risks due to dangerous holes in pipeline walls, as in
systems with mechanical pig detectors, belong to the past. The sensor
does not reach the inside of the pipes. The installation is easy and can
be carried out during line operations. The software which comes with the
device helps to start the operation. Since the ultrasonic sensor does
not touch the liquids, there is practically no abrasion. The amount for
maintenance is only small. The sensors can be applied for pipe diameters
between 8 and 60´´. Compared to methods working with radiation sources,
the ultrasonic method is non-hazardous. An effective electronic system, ... |

PR5001 Si Dual Photo Diode |
| |
PREMA
Semiconductor proudly announces the release of their first optical
standard component PR5001, a dual photo diode for the near infrared
range with minimum footprint. An active area of two times 0.75mmx1.2mm
is packaged in a small clear DFN package with a size of only
1.8mmx2.9mm. PREMA´s silicon photo diodes have separate cathodes and a
common anode. They offer a very low dark current in the range of less
than 100pA at reverse voltages of up to 20V. The capacitance of the
photo diodes of less than 60pF at 10Volts allows the use for light
signals of higher frequency. The applied ModuS U6 process allows
economic production of large sized photo diodes with a high yield and
less impurity traps. Thus a very uniform sensitivity across both
elements can be achieved, which is important for position detection.
PR5001 has its peak sensitivity in the near infrared range around 890nm.
Possible applications for these dual photo diodes are light measurement,
laser beam alignment in laser printers and DVD/CD players, the use in
optical encoders and light barriers. ... |

SoS for pressure measurement -
Process-orientated pressure measurement in silicon-on-sapphire
technology |
| |
With
its AGS4000 series, ALTHEN GmbH Mess- und Sensortechnik – the
specialist for electrical measurement of mechanical values – presents a
high-precision pressure transducer in silicon-on-sapphire technology.
The newly launched sensors excel through outstanding properties of
accuracy, stability and thermal behaviour. The AGS4000 pressure
transducers are used in the traditional fields of pressure measurement
of fluid or gaseous media in industrial metrology applications. They are
used for example in chemical or pharmaceutical production, mechanical
engineering and car manufacture etc. and can be used as a replacement in
all processes for the low-accuracy pressure measuring devices presently
used. The parts in contact with the measuring medium are made of BT9
Titanium. This ensures high resistance to corrosion ... |

New HCL Miniature Low Pressure Sensors
for Ultra Stable and Accurate Measurements |
| |
Sensortechnics
new HCL pressure sensors measure low gage or differential pressures from
5 … 75 mbar. These devices are precision calibrated and temperature
compensated and offer ratiometric mV output signals. They use a special
compensation technology to achieve a very high offset stability and
virtually no position sensitivity in comparison to conventional sensors.
The HCL pressure sensors feature a high input resistance and are ideal
for portable device applications. A wide range of miniature SMT, single
inline (SIP) and dual inline (DIP) housing options allow for
space-saving PCB-mounting and maximum OEM design flexibility.
Sensortechnics can provide very fast and flexible HCL sensor
modifications based on customer specific requirements. Important

Dew Point Transmitter Certified by ATEX
and FM |
| |
Michell
Instruments are delighted to announce they have received
confirmation of the accreditation by FM Approvals for the intrinsically
safe version of their Easidew Transmitter. In addition to its ATEX
certification, this allows the Easidew TX I.S. to be used in hazardous
area applications within the USA. The Easidew TX I.S. is certified by FM
Approvals for use in hazardous areas to IS/I/1/ABCD/T4 when used with a
galvanic isolator for signal power supply connections. The new
Transmitter can be safely used in virtually all industrial gas
measurement applications. The certification lists five different
galvanic isolators. This allows the customer to choose the most suitable
isolator to provide the correct hazardous / safe area interconnection.
The Easidew TX I.S. offers the customer more new and improved features.
It can now be connected in a 2-Wire loop powered or 3-Wire
configuration. The Transmitter also features an HDPE filter, designed to
show contamination for service ease which is <10um porosity and ... |

Melt pressure transmitter with 4 – 20mA
signal and CANopen |
| |
The
highly successful JUMO 4 ADM-35 series from JUMO GmbH & Co. KG,
Fulda, Germany, can now also be supplied with pre-amplified output
signals, and as a mercury-free version. Melt pressure transmitters are
used in the plastics industry and in process engineering, mainly for
acquiring pressure in liquid and pasty materials in extrusion plants.
These applications demand transmitters that are especially rugged.
Accordingly, they are suitable for ranges from 50 to 2000 bar, and for
media temperatures up to 480°C. New output signals: Up to now, melt
pressure transmitters have commonly been used with a 2mV/V or 3.3mV/V
output signal. However, this requires either special signal inputs or an
additional instrument amplifier for conversion to a standard signal on
the control side. But, thanks to the new electronics, melt pressure
transmitters from JUMO are now also available with a standard analog 4 –
20mA signal or a digital CANopen signal. As a result, the sensors ... |

Precision Inclinometer gives 0.2 arcsec
resolution |
| |
Fluxgate
World: The A6410 precision 2-channel inclinometer uses patented
sensor heads - either single axis or twin-orthogonal axis versions.
These can be left in situ with the instrument connected only when
readings are needed, allowing a single instrument to be used with
several sensor heads. The 0.2 arcsec resolution over the ±5° range of
the instrument makes it ideal for a broad range of applications which
include structural geology, building structural integrity monitoring,
tunnel and borehole guidance, military surveillance, precision platform
levelling and security monitoring. Custom software is included for the
display of readings on a standard PC or laptop. The instrument is
powered by either 12V battery or 230V mains.
